It's Almost Over

I'm tired. I need a watchdog. When the time comes to plan my Spring Training trip, and I start talking about doubleheaders (which are really day-night split-stadium doubleheaders), talk me out of it. I left the Mets game today during the rain delay and heard the resumption of the game on the radio on the train just after it left the ballpark, got to the Devils game, and was tired before it even started. Left that game early too as a matter of being tired and not having to wait in Newark for an extra 45 minutes.

I'll do a writeup on the GKR day and other thoughts after I get home from tomorrow's game. I couldn't shake my extra seat. My friend and ticket-partner who had the other 2 seats couldn't shake his and decided it wasn't worth it for himself. So I have 4 seats to myself in Section 405. Come say hi. I'm pretty sure I won't back out, but I don't know.

It makes me think of this. These days, late in the season, is it worth it to go to a game that you've already paid for (and in my case for Sunday, pre-paid for the parking) when there's very little enjoyment, plus tolls (from NJ) and food costs? Or is it just better to cut the losses, consider the ticket and parking a donation to a Madoff victim (if that makes you feel better), and do other things (or nothing at all) instead? I committed to this game back in March and I hate backing out of a game once it's been purchased.

Remember this thought when the time comes to buy your season or partial ticket packages.

Discussion on ticket pricing policies

Every once in a while, I come across a new blog (or at least one that's new to me). I quietly add it to my RSS feed reader and to the list of Mets fan blogs on this site (and if I can find them on facebook, on my RememberingShea facebook page too).

I happened to come across a blog tonight that had a topic in its most recent post that may be a big part of the off-season talk -- Citi Field Tickets.

The blog is called Mets Report, and the post is basically a discussion with the blog's editor Dave Doyle talking to Kerel Cooper of On The Black about ticket sales from this year and next.

I also remind you about the poll on the right side asking how many games you're planning on going to in 2010 compared to what you did/plan to do in 2009. So far, 1 in 20 is planning on going to more games. It's all relative, but I would like to hear why this one person is going to a lot more games.

Tickets please

I saw this article in the NY Times today, talking about season ticket holders of both the Mets and Yankees.

I predict record number drop-offs in season ticket and partial plan renewals for both clubs for 2010.

Tickets still available for the Yankees

RememberingShea has learned that individual game tickets are available to the general public for this weekend's Subway Series against the Yankees. After trying to sell out the ballpark using the traditional ticket lottery, a la carte packages, as well as other fan ticket venues (StubHub and GaryKeithAndRon), there are still seats available.

Before you get your hopes up, I could not find a ticket for under $100 on mets.com for Friday night's any game. Everything pushed me to the LF and RF corners on either Field Level or Excelsior/Caesar's Club.

Does anyone else find it interesting that the annual Mets ticket brochure mailing mentions nothing about individual game tickets?

It has a nice schedule printed in a pretty big font, and a really large seating chart for Citi Field with all 100 sections/color codes (I think that's also up on mets.com). It's about time they made it large enough to read.

There's info about season and the partial ticket plans. But nothing about individual game tickets. The schedule itself marks which games belong to which ticket package(s). At least we don't have that color code for different premium values on different games.

I also find it interesting that the seating chart in print doesn't have home plate in the middle with LF on the left and RF on the right. This one has home plate and its seating area in the lower right side. It just looks weird that way.

While I'm here, I'll say (again) that I've never liked the names "Excelsior Leve", "Caesars Club", "Promenade Level", or "Promenade Club". I'll give them "Sterling Level", "Delta Club", "Metropolitan Box", and "Ebbets Club".
