Too Little, Too Late

The Mets put out a press release and an email announcing that season ticket prices will be reduced by 10% to 20% for next season. I'm still trying to process that thought. Studious Metsimus, MetsPolice, MetsPolice again, and again, Loge13, and Citi Field of Dreams among others have this one covered.

There's a lot of ill will from Mets fans towards Fred and Jeff Wilpon and the rest of the Mets ownership. I fell it too. I have a post that I wanted to have ready now but expect it to be next week where I address Fred Wilpon directly. My Summer Family, and Faith and Fear In Flushing have that sentiment covered too.

Meanwhile, The Daily Stache looks at the big question what if bloggers ran the Mets?

I'll get to reading all of these posts soon, along with others soon. I'll be at the final 2 games of the season. And on Monday, we'll be in off season mode. Spring Training games start on March 2 against the Braves (thanks to Gary Cohen for saying that on air tonight).

Why cut back attending in 2010?

Since most readers have said (through my poll on the right side of the site) that they are planning on attending fewer games at Citi Field in 2010 than they did in 2009, let me pry a bit further and ask why.

  1. low expectations for the team/poor play

  2. tickets (in 2009) are over-priced

  3. not falling for those ticket mislabeled packages again

  4. dislike of the ballpark (aside from ticket prices/packages)

  5. the bad economy (aside from ticket prices)

  6. other - drop me a line as to why

Discussion on ticket pricing policies

Every once in a while, I come across a new blog (or at least one that's new to me). I quietly add it to my RSS feed reader and to the list of Mets fan blogs on this site (and if I can find them on facebook, on my RememberingShea facebook page too).

I happened to come across a blog tonight that had a topic in its most recent post that may be a big part of the off-season talk -- Citi Field Tickets.

The blog is called Mets Report, and the post is basically a discussion with the blog's editor Dave Doyle talking to Kerel Cooper of On The Black about ticket sales from this year and next.

I also remind you about the poll on the right side asking how many games you're planning on going to in 2010 compared to what you did/plan to do in 2009. So far, 1 in 20 is planning on going to more games. It's all relative, but I would like to hear why this one person is going to a lot more games.

New Poll

I have added yet another new poll to the site.

How many games are you figuring on going to at Citi Field next year?
a) a lot more games than you went to in 2009,
b) a few more games,
c) the same number (if you go to a lot, give or take one or two),
d) a few less games, or
e) a lot less games (it's all relative to how many you went to in 2009).
